Former international competitor and Olympian Lendon Gray visits Bear Spot Farm almost monthly for clinics and lessons. Currently focusing her energies in her Dressage4Kids program and other youth programs in the USEF/USDF, Lendon brings a fresh perspective to teaching and training that is tailored to each horse and rider's goals. Lendon frequently accompanies Bear Spot Farm trainer Jane Karol and numerous clients to regional competitions.
Scott Hassler is a widely respected and sought after educator, trainer, and horseman. Scott has a tremendous passion for the development of our sport and has served on many national committees for both USEF and USDF since 1999. He advised both USDF and USEF on their Strategic Planning Committees and continues to serve on the USEF Dressage and USEF Breeders Committees. In 2006, Scott was named our USEF National Young Horse Coach and has been highly effective in this role ever since, training and coaching riders all over the country and overseas. Scott was instrumental in creating our pipeline of national programs that ensure talented horses and riders are properly recognized and developed. Scott conducted the 2004 USDF National Symposium with Christoff Hess and Steffen Peters and again in 2011 with the other USEF coaches. Scott recently co-conducted the 2013 USDF National Trainers Conference with Steffen Peters.
Originally from Vienna, Arthur joined the Spanish Riding School in 1960 and progressed rapidly, becoming Riding Master in 1983 and then First Chief rider from 1995 to 2002. After retiring from the School, Arthur has been in great demand as a trainer and holds numerous international clinics. With a philosophy of training and riding firmly rooted in the tenets of the Spanish Riding School, Arthur is a true advocate of classical horsemanship. Bear Spot Farm first began hosting clinics with Arthur in 2012 and hopes to continue to do so in the future.
Having spent 40 years in the industry doing everything from steeplechase racing to starting cutting horse to competing with pack horses in rodeos, Gary Smith is one of the last true horsemen. Gary has spent the last twenty years working with horses that have behavior or training issues, often at shows in Florida and New England, always trying to discover the root of the issue and help the horse work through it. Whether it be a backyard horse and an amateur owner or an international horse and rider, Gary has helped human and horse discover a better means of communication. Bear Spot Farm continues to benefit from his experience at shows and hopes to organize more training sessions with Gary in 2013.
Claes Bierenbroodspot was an instructor at the Dutch Instructor School at Deurne for 14 years, and Head Instructor seven of those years. Prior to this, he was the trainer and Chef d'Equipe of the Dutch National JR/YR 3-Day Event Team. He has 26 years of experience in teaching, from training level through Grand Prix. His company, HorseFind Holland, assists riders of all ages and experience levels in finding an exceptional equine partner. Claes has been teaching clinics in the US and at Bear Spot Farm for nearly 20 years, and we continue to welcome him several times each year.
